Cyclone Sidebar: Welcome!

JTS from University Blvd3
As members of the Iowa State Athletics Communications staff, we have a very unique job. We have the privilege of working behind the scenes with the Cyclone coaches and student-athletes while observing them in a different and informal setting.

It’s in these circumstances where we truly learn about our Cyclones. It’s the rare glimpse of what makes them tick or discovering a fascinating story about their lives that is revealed for the first time.

It’s our job to give you, the fans of Cyclone Nation, this inside perspective of our outstanding athletics program. Today we are proud to announce a new column/blog published periodically by the Athletics Communications staff called the Cyclone Sidebar.

Cyclone Sidebar aims to bring you fresh ideas and storylines on our athletics department through a personalized weekly column/blog with the goal for you to learn something new about us along the way.

We hope you will enjoy our storytelling. Go Cyclones!

About Mike Green

I'm in my 21st year working in the Athletics Communications office at Iowa State and in my third year as Director of Communications. My passion has always been ISU Athletics and the seed was planted by my father, Ken, who was an All-Big Eight pitcher for Iowa State in 1960. I graduated from UNI in 1993, where I was a two-year letterwinner on the golf team, and received my master's at ISU in 1997. I've covered volleyball, wrestling, baseball, golf, football and men's basketball at ISU, including 13 seasons as the men's hoops contact. It's an honor to be the football contact for Coach Campbell and the Cyclones. I've got stories to tell, and I love telling them.
